Foothill Ranch-based Oakley is launching a new line of sunglasses made from aerospace aluminum alloy – and one company exec believes the products set a new standard at the company.
The Jury sunglasses are designed for top-quality performance and protection, with high-definition optics that exceed American National Standards Institute requirements for clarity and precision, as well as high-mass and high-velocity impact resistance.
“Oakley strives to seamlessly blend the best of science and art, and this new sunglass raises the bar for both,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden, a 2010 OC METRO Hot 25 honoree. “We wanted Jury to be made of metal but still provide the comfort of a lightweight design. The chosen aerospace alloy was originally engineered to take the punishment that aircraft and space vehicles endure, and we shaped it with styling that brings a fresh, self-assured look."
Other features of the product include sleeves that increase their grip when the a wearer perspires, a three-point fit for greater comfort and lenses that filter out all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light.
A special edition of the Jury sunglasses will be available exclusively at Sunglass Hut locations starting Nov. 4 for a 90-day period. The products will be launched online and at other retailers afterward.
